Thai Baht (฿ THB) Money Guide: Beating the ฿220 ATM Fee, SuperRich Exchange & Cash Rules

How to minimize Thailand's flat ฿220 foreign ATM surcharge using ฿30,000 Krungsri withdrawals, where to find SuperRich at BKK Airport Basement, and avoiding DCC.

How to Pay Only 0.73% at Thai ATMs

Every commercial bank ATM in Thailand charges foreign debit cards a mandatory ฿220 ($6.45) local surcharge per withdrawal. To minimize this fee:

  1. Look for a yellow Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya) or blue Bangkok Bank / ttb ATM, which allows a ฿30,000 ($880) single withdrawal (thirty ฿1,000 bills), reducing the ฿220 fee to just 0.73%.
  2. When the ATM screen asks "Continue WITH or WITHOUT Conversion?", always press "Continue WITHOUT Conversion" so your home bank converts at the true Visa/Mastercard mid-market rate.
  3. Alternatively, bring crisp, unmarked $100 USD, €50/€100 EUR, or £50 GBP banknotes to SuperRich Thailand (Green) or SuperRich 1965 (Orange) on Basement Floor B at Suvarnabhumi Airport (right next to the Airport Rail Link station) for a ~0.15% wholesale spread and ฿0 fee! Run the math in our Baht, ฿220 ATM & VAT Calculator.
